A bespoke painted kitchen, made-to-measure utility room and built-in bedroom storage

For property developers, only the finest will suffice at home

Property renovators and remodellers, Helen and Barry Fielding, had used Basically Trade on a number of professional contracts over the years. So when they needed bespoke storage solutions and a stunning new kitchen for their own project, they knew just where to turn.

Helen explains: “Originally we found Basically Trade online and the pricing was so competitive that nobody else could really come close. Over the years, we’ve found the quality of the products and workmanship to be consistently far above and beyond what you would expect, and the team have the experience and technical know how to make any design work in a very practical way.

When it came to completing a remodelling project of our own in Cheshire, we needed a new kitchen and utility room and some storage in the master bedroom. We didn’t even consider any other companies; we knew Basically Trade would be able to provide exactly what we needed.

Our experience has always been that you’ll get exceptional quality from Basically Trade, without an enormous price tag.

Storage was proving problematic in the master bedroom with the eaves creating a very low, sloping ceiling across one side of the room. With Basically Trade, we were able to design a made-to-measure solution that uses every last inch of the awkward space, bringing clean and unobtrusive style. With a combination of hanging robes and drawers, there’s storage for all sorts. We then created some full-height storage in the utility room to hang any long coats that couldn’t quite fit in the upstairs wardrobes. The utility room was designed to be practical and stylish.

The team also manufactured a kitchen to our design using their premium painted Halsted and Ward range, which meant we were able to specify the exact colour as well as the style and layout. We opted for a very dark grey Tikurilla v499 paint to complement black granite worktops. Because the kitchen was made to measure, we didn’t have to be restricted by ‘off the shelf’ sizes etc. We were able to incorporate a wine fridge, and the carcass units also have the GOLA handleless rail system for a modern and sleek look, along with BLUM soft-close hinges, Legrabox drawers and Aventos Lift systems.

For the master bedroom storage, Basically Trade used made-to-measure carcasses in Natural Carini Walnut that had a sloping top from front to back. This was a great use of space in a room where freestanding furniture wouldn’t have been practical.  We even designed a special tall boy drawer unit which had shallow depth drawers at the top under the eaves and deeper depth drawers at the base, to make the most of the storage space.

The kitchen was specified in our painted Halsted and Ward range which has already proved extremely popular since it was unveiled earlier this year. In fact, Interior Designer Linda Barker was one of the first to take advantage of the new range.

Units for the utility room were manufactured to the Fieldings’ exact specification and - as with all Basically Trade carcasses - they were made at our factory using only sustainably sourced MFC products. As always, they came complete with our reassuring ten-year guarantee.
